10 Recruitment Tips

  1. Be yourself. There is nothing more important in the recruitment process.
  2. Get plenty of sleep.
  3. Wash your hands often and take vitamins. With so many women coming in and out of the chapter houses, we have found that colds circulate during recruitment.
  4. Look at each sorority as a whole — don’t judge it by a single woman that you met.
  5. Be interested and polite to every member of every sorority, regardless of what you think at a particular event.  Recruitment is about becoming a member of the Greek community just as much as it’s about joining an individual chapter.
  6. Ask questions. It helps the conversation and is a sign of your interest.
  7. Be courteous to others in your recruitment group. You may be excited, but there may be members of your group that do not feel the same way. Recruitment is an individual experience.
  8. Do not interpret any remark made at any event as assurance of a bid. An individual member has no way of knowing if you will receive a bid.
  9. Be mature in your decision-making. Don’t be influenced by others’ opinions.
  10. Have fun! It may be “formal” recruitment, but it doesn’t have to be stuffy.
